Salted Writes - The Short Story with Taiye Selasi
A three week course.
Finding your flow—and your voice—in short fiction.
Quiet as it's kept, the short story is the core of all the content we love. Movies are structured like stories (not novels). Chapters (like episodes) are short stories themselves. If you can write a great story, you can write a great anything! But you can't write a great story until you find your story voice.
In this three-week workshop, we'll set off on a journey to explore your story voice. Have an idea for a plot but can't find a way in? Wrote a draft that works but doesn't quite sing? Each evening, through a lively combination of analysis and experimentation, we’ll invite your voice to come out and play. In workshops around the world, I've had the pleasure of guiding countless fiction writers on this journey — past fear, past familiarity, into flow.
Taiye Selasi is the NYT best selling author of Ghana Must Go, her short fiction has been selected and published by The Best American Short Stories and she was named as one of Granta’s best young novelists. She holds a BA from Yale, an MPhil from Oxford and teaches around the world.
